ART PROJECT
"HERITAGE of BELARUS"

Alexander Alekseyev and Oleg Lukashevich were the first photo artists in the history
of independent Belarus to begin to purposefully destroy the stereotype of "homespun" Belarus. In their photos, through a realistic and artistically expressive presentation,
the authors of the project reflect the uniqueness of Belarusian architectural monuments and decorative and applied art objects, demonstrating the true Belarusian identity with a 1000-year history and rich culture.

The project is based on scientific research work to study national history and culture. The authors have organized more than a hundred business trips around Belarus
and beyond, which are of an expeditionary nature with an assessment, clarification
and search for new information.

Since 2003, more than 40 national and international author's photo exhibitions "Heritage of Belarus" have been held in France, Italy, Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Armenia, Hungary, Croatia. Thanks to
the author's photo exhibitions "Heritage of Belarus", millions of viewers both in Belarus
and abroad became acquainted with the historical and cultural heritage of Belarus.

The created book-albums, documentaries, and photo works within the framework
of the project are unique works that are characterized by ideological and figurative completeness, a single stylistic concept, compositional consistency, and principles
of artistic construction; they carry ideological and semantic content.
The project has social significance and combines educational, ideological,
and representative functions.

The aim of the project is to develop interest in Belarus, its historical and cultural heritage, raise national consciousness, revive lost origins and traditions,
and affirm the identity of the Belarusian nation in the world community.

The art project "Heritage of Belarus", created by Aliaksander Aliakseyeu
and Aleh Lukashevich in 2001, has gained wide popularity not only in Belarus
but also abroad. The book-albums and films of the project are presented
in the collections of the largest libraries in the world, in universities, cultural
and diplomatic institutions, in private collections of famous people —
from the Queen of Great Britain to the Pope of Rome. All this makes
it possible to introduce Belarusian history and culture to a wide circle
of the world community.
